This annual Forum aims to provide university decision makers from ICA’s member universities with the opportunity to meet, to discuss current issues in agricultural and life sciences and to exchange views on these issues with relevant stakeholders in industry, government and NGOs.  This Forum follows the successful Forums in 2011, 2012 and 2013 .

FORUM FOCUS

2014 is the start of the new EU programming period. This introduces many changes and new programmes. For life science universities/ faculties it is important to look at the challenges and possibilities offered during this new programming period. Hereby we want to focus both on implications for education as well as research and innovation.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

  • Clarifying the role of life science universities in the EU strategy
  • Learning about new opportunities in the programmes
  • Clues for being more successful in participation in Erasmus + and Horizon2020
  • Learning of how to be more successful in collaborations between live science universities with industry and NGOs – private public partnerships

FORUM BACKGROUND

The EU Commission states that their Europe 2020 Strategy is about delivering growth that is: smart, through more effective investments in education, research and innovation; sustainable, thanks to a decisive move towards a low-carbon economy; and inclusive, with a strong emphasis on job creation and poverty reduction. The strategy is focused on five ambitious goals in the areas of employment, innovation, education, poverty reduction and climate/energy.”
